It's been awhile, hasn't it?

The past couple of weeks have flown right by.

Here's a little recap . . .

We took a quick (really quick) (too quick) trip to Utah. We left Friday after work, drove the 6 1/2 hour drive, got into Utah late, spent Saturday with family, left Sunday afternoon and got back into town super late Sunday night...just in time for work Monday morning. I would have LOVED to stay longer, but work beckoned, darn-it. It was however a much needed little trip and I'm glad we got to go.

We brought back one of Curtis' scooters from Utah. I think we are now down to just four scooters left in Utah. ha ha. A true scooter enthusiast indeed!

We've been fortunate enough to watch the Dinosaurs play their second and third soccer games. I can't get enough of how cute these kids are. I love this picture below. It shows perfectly the nature of the kids. You'll notice the boy on the left is doing his own thing, our goalie is inside the goal box facing the wrong direction, and our star player is running for the ball with her brother close behind. Plus, check out the background...true wild west fashion!


I took 2 days off of work last week to work on our house. I painted one of the downstairs bedrooms. I love it. It's a whole new room.

We helped milk a cow. Actually, Curtis helped milk a cow. I admired from a distance.

My allergies are now in full swing. This will give you an idea of what my nights are like.

And lastly, I have been cheering on the Utah Jazz (which I will continue to do tonight)!! I will forever be a Jazz fan at heart.


I think this pretty much sums up the last couple of weeks of my life. Pretty exciting, eh.

SCOOTER ART

Here are some scooter silhouettes I have been working on these past few days. I love how they turned out! The yellow one is my favorite. It is a real silhouette of Curtis on one of his Vespas.

That's right folks...ANOTHER SCOOTER!

Isn't she a beauty? You are looking at Curtis' new Vespa GS 160...the rare, coveted, and one of the most sought after Vespa's around, and Curtis couldn't be happier! Here is our story...

Late Monday night Curtis found an ad on Craigslist that read, "Vespa GS for sale." "Could it be?" he thought. "Is this really the Vespa GS that so many scooterist (including Curtis) long to get their hands on?" Indeed it was! Curtis promptly emailed the seller and told him he was interested...very interested.

The next morning, bright and early, we got a call from the seller informing us it was still available. Curtis made him promise that he wouldn't sell it before we got there...we didn't want to make the 2 1/2 hour drive only to come home with no scooter. The guy told Curtis he would hold onto it for him and we were off to Denver. The guy called us three different times while we were on our way asking us if we were really interested and if we were really going to buy the scooter. By this time he was getting all sorts of phone call from interested scooterist offering him more money. "YES, I am interested and YES I am going to buy it," Curtis told him. "DO NOT sell it before we get there!! We are on our way!" Luckily, the guy kept his promise and we were fortunate enough to come home with one of Curtis' dream scooters. It was a happy time! Of course, many of you (unless you are an avid scooter enthusiast) don't really appreciate what a great thing this is, owning a Vespa GS 160, but just know it is TOTALLY AWESOME!!

To conclude our great day, Curtis played in a soccer game later that night and scored the winning goal!! It was the perfect goal. It was with his left foot and it went right over the goalie's head right into the net. Good job babe!!

You can carry anything on a scooter...

Last week we got a note in the mail informing us that there was a package for us to pick up at the post office. So, Curtis stopped by on his way home from school and this was it (see below).

{The Package: Probably about 4 feet long and weighing in at about 30 pounds}

{Did I mention that Curtis picked up the package on HIS SCOOTER?}

I still don't know how he did it, but luckily he made it home safely. I guess you really can carry anything on a scooter. Here are just a few examples...

{You can haul your bikes, garbage, and what ever else you can fit in the trailer}

{You can haul your extra scooter on your scooter}

{You can give your WHOLE family a ride}

{You can carry boxes...lots of boxes}

{And lastly, you can haul your carpet home from the store}

I wish I could have gotten a picture of Curtis actually transporting his package home on his scooter, but I'm sure you can all use your imagination. :)

Introducing the Honda Express Moped!

Check out our Honda Express Moped...not to be confused with our Puch Moped (also green) that was introduced in an earlier post.

We bought this moped for super cheap because it wouldn't start, but Curtis, being the scooter guru he is, had no problems getting it running. I think there is still some tweaking that needs to be done...as you can see, the smoke from the exhaust filled our garage.

I love this moped! I think it is super cute. Now we have 2 green mopeds we can ride all over town together :-) How fun is that!?!

Earlier this week Curtis got a new project:) Do you like it? When we bought this moped it wasn't running, but Curtis worked his magic and got it going this weekend. We had lots of fun!!

Curtis' mom even joined in on the fun. (His parents are visiting us this weekend. It has been a lot fun spending time with them and showing them around Laramie)...

I love the new moped. Curtis is going to get it running better and then I will be able to ride it to work (I only work 3 blocks away). Also, if I get brave enough, I can ride it to school...we'll have to wait and see about that one:)

Note to Jadi...Curtis would LOVE to talk scooters with Geoff. He was happy to hear of his new found interest in the scooter:)

What a Stud!!!

If you know Curtis, then you know he L-O-V-E-S scooters. He was excited to work on his newest project over Spring break....his recently purchased 1980 Vespa P200.

I took the liberty of documenting the process that goes into repairing/ restoring an old scooter. I have seen this process first hand many times.

It goes a little something like this....

Step 1: Finding an old scooter to buy that needs plenty of t.l.c.

Step 2: Spending hours and hours working on the scooter. This includes taking the scooter apart, putting it back together, rebuilding the carb, cleaning out the gas tank, and much, much more.

Step 3: Adding oil and gas to the scooter.

Step 4: Trying to start the scooter.

Step 5: Standing back with dad discussing why the scooter didn't start as well as figuring out why it is leaking gas.

Step 6: Working on the scooter some more.

Step 7: Trying to start the scooter again.

Step 8: Yes!! It started!

Step 9: Now the fun begins!

Keep in mind, the steps don't stop here. They repeat themselves many, many times and may happen in any order. My favorite part of it all is watching Curtis' face light up when his scooter finally starts. It is fun for me to watch him doing what he loves.
