a few things...

Winter has made its way to Thermopolis.  Our snow boots are on, our shovel is out and the cabinet is stocked with hot chocolate.

Fellow Davis County Peeps....so sorry about the wind.  From what I hear, it came from Wyoming.  I've seen the photos and it doesn't look good....trampolines in trees, trees on cars, fences blown away.  If I was there, I would help clean up the mess.  Hope you and your homes and your cars and everything else is okay.

Happy happy birthday to my dear friend Heather!!  So sorry you are spending it in the hospital.  You are awesome and I am so glad Jake married you!!  I'm glad we are friends too.  Hope you get better and can go home soon to your girlies.

I've got a case of . . .

the winter blues

Enough already!  There is just too much snow and it is just too darn cold.  Somebody, please, make it all stop!

Wyoming Winter Roads

or aka, my hell on earth.

Don't forget about the blowing snow.  Sometimes the snow blows high in the air right at your windshield making it impossible to see.

My personal hell would be nothing but snowy, icy roads that I would be forced to drive on all day.

I'm pretty sure I've decreased my life expectancy by all the stress I have caused my body from driving on these roads.  I'm considering celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas in July so during the winter months, I won't have to leave the house.  It actually might work out quite well....a parade in the morning, presents in the afternoon, turkey, potatoes and stuffing for dinner followed by a grand fireworks display.  It just might work.

a cold morning in Thermopolis

The thermometer doesn't lie. It's a chilling -22 degrees outside this morning. Burr! Time to cuddle under a blanket and drink hot chocolate.

Bring on the SNOW!

It started snowing yesterday morning and never stopped. Laramie is now a white blanket of fluffy snow. It's a beautiful sight. Cold, wet and very slick...but beautiful.

Did you know they don't plow the roads in Laramie? The roads are covered with a thick sheet of snow with a top layer that eventually turns to ice. It's this way ALL WINTER LONG. Seriously. They don't plow the parking lots either. You should see Walmart's parking lot in the winter time. I've almost slipped many a times walking through their lot...very, very slick. And all the cars are parked a skew because no one can see where to park. The cars are just sort of scattered everywhere. You should try pushing a shopping cart through a parking lot packed down with thick, crunchy snow. It's harder than you might think.

This is all part of Laramie's charm! The snow, the wind, the bitter cold. That's Laramie. My home. And I love it!

You'll notice in this picture the snow-covered roads. I really mean it when I say they will stay like this all winter long!
